Hi there I am Jeremey Atkinson a fun loving Aussie Guy. Born and bread in Victoria. I grew up predominantly in the small country town of Birchip located in the states North-West. I am currently in my final year at the Australian Defence Force Academy where I am studying Science (Chemistry, Politics)through the University of New South Wales. At the moment I can not wait for this year to end when I can finally bid farewell to academic study and get on with my chosen career as a Seaman Officer in the Royal Australian Navy. I have such a variety of interests that I cannot really say what my hobbies are. But I love sport and am keen to try my hand at any sport that comes my way. Specifically I play Cricket, Australian Rules Football and Golf. My great love though is the outdoors and as long as I am outdoors I can find something to entertain, I really like partaking in adventurous type activities such as scuba diving, bushwalking, rockclimbing, abseiling and kayaking. Although many of these activities I have only minimal experience in I am keen to increase my participation in these. When not enjoying the beauty of the outdoors I like to fill my time by going out with my friends to a club, pub or just to the movies. Also I enjoy classic literature and writing poetry. | |||||||||||||||||||||||

One of the great loves of my life. Although relatively unknown outside the realm of Australia this is our National Sport. I love this sport for its speed and free flowing action. It is game the cannot be dominated by one or two "stars" as it takes a solid team effort and plenty of thinking (not that other sports don't). AFL was recently acclaimed as the second most physical sport in the world (by American Sport Illustrated) second only to the Irish sport of Gaelic Football. The game is played on a 165m x 125m oval and it 4 x 25-30min quarters in duration. Coming from Victoria (the home of AFL) it is a sport the was engrained from a young age. I started my playing career with the Birchip u/11 at the age of 8, playing with the clubs u/15 premiership sides in 1990, 91,92 and 94. In 1994 I was fortunate enough to be selected in the Victorian-Country side to play in the Teal Cup (Australian U/17 Championships). In 1994 I also played 3 games for the Bendigo Pioneers in the Victorian State Football League. The following year I played most of the season with the Birchip Seniors (losing the Grand Final by 3 points- a heart wrenching moment) and again playing a handfull of games with the Pioneers. At the top level of the sport I support the Essendon Football Club and my favourite players are James Hird, Michael Voss and Paul Kelly. Oh and let me not forget the Great Athony -Plugger- Lockett.
